The MOVE organization is a small, largely black, back-to-nature sect based in Philadelphia whose communal home was besieged by 600 heavily armed cops in 1978. In 1985 police dropped a firebomb on the MOVE home in the black neighborhood of Powelton Village and allowed the fire to spread, killing 11 MOVE members of whom five were children and leaving 250 of their neighbors homeless.
